CPL Corner-week 9 by Brett Lubkiwski

Don’t worry, friends. I didn’t forget about you.

I’m feeling a bit of a post-vacation burnout (and I only took two days off to go to Seattle) but I would feel terrible if I didn’t give you a weekly CPL Corner.

It’s a fantastic time to be a footy fan, guys.

The CANMNT picked up a historic draw against France ahead of Copa America, Euros are getting underway and we got the official reveal from Halifax Tides FC to go along with the NSL announcing a very exciting broadcast deal. My goodness the excitement around Canada’s own women’s league just makes me so, so happy.

The next few weeks will be a certified smorgasbord of top tier international football between now and the Paris 2024 Olympics.

With all of that football available to us, it could be very easy to forget about our local domestic league and to put it on the backburner.

Believe me, I get it. Between Euros and Copa, there will be football for 14 straight hours some days.

So this week’s CPL Corner is short, but it’s important.

Please, do not forget about the CPL over these next couple of months.

Get yourself outside and go support your local club live if you can, try to fill up those stands as much as possible.

Watch the games on OneSoccer if you can too (you may even hear the smooth voices of our friends Jimmy and Craig on the call for a couple games!)

I know that it’s a lot of football to watch. We are all so excited to see Canada’s teams play on the biggest stages and we all have a country we’re supporting in the Euros (Allez Les Bleus! 🇫🇷)

But it’s still crucial during these exciting times that we continue to support our local clubs when we can, while also not turning ourselves into full-on couch potatoes.

Oh and while you can, go check out the Footy Prime Swag Shop! We got kits, hats, hoodies, backpacks and One Ball Gin!

What do you want to hear me talk about in a future CPL Corner? Let me know, I’m always looking for topics to cover.

See you next time!
